RMAG Field Trip Covid-19 Guidelines

Effective June 15, 2020

The RMAG takes the threat of the coronavirus outbreak seriously, and continues to monitor the health and safety guidelines issued by the State of Colorado’s Department of Public Health & Environment and the US Centers for Disease Control. The health and safety of our trip leaders, coordinators and participants is of the utmost importance to all of us. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, we ask all participants to follow these guidelines:

  • Remain at least 6 feet apart from other trip participants at all times during the field trip, except in cases where it is unsafe to maintain that distance.
  • Wear a non-surgical, cloth mask that covers your nose and mouth as much as possible, especially when the group gathers at the start and end of the trip and during discussions. Where safe, wear masks during trip operations. Neck gaiters are acceptable.
  • Bring and use 70% alcohol hand-sanitizer.
  • Stay home if you have a fever or any symptoms of respiratory illness, or if you have been in close contact with an exposed or symptomatic person (within 6 feet for at least 10 minutes) in the last 14 days. A refund will be issued if you are unable to attend the trip because of illness.
  • If you begin to feel ill during the trip, notify the trip coordinator immediately.
  • Carpooling is not recommended unless you are travelling with a member of your household.

People at higher risk of severe illness should stay home and away from large groups of people as much as possible, including public places with lots of people and large gatherings where there will be close contact with others. People at higher risk include:

  • Older adults, especially those over 80
  • People with underlying health conditions including heart disease, lung disease, kidney disease, or diabetes
  • People who have weakened immune systems

If you are at higher risk, you must assess for yourself the risks of attending the field trip. For more information on who is at higher risk and what the risks are, please visit Colorado’s CDPHE website.

If you have already registered for a trip but determine the risk is too great, we will refund your registration.

Please keep in mind that you are taking this trip at your own risk. RMAG staff and volunteers will do everything we can to assure your health and safety and adherence to the guidelines above is essential for all participants.

Please note: All field trip participants will be required to sign an affidavit certifying they understand the RMAG COVID-19 guidelines and will not, to their knowledge, pose a risk of COVID-19 infection to other trip participants. You may download the affidavit here.
