Rocky Mountain Rendezvous

Welcome to the Rocky Mountain Rendezvous (RMR)!

The Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists in association with the University of Wyoming and with the support of the Rocky Mountain Section of the AAPG are excited to bring back this storied job fair for geologists and geophysicists. With the goal to connect students, employers, and industry professionals, this event is designed to fine tune students resumes, provide interviewing advice, create mentoring connections, and provide direct access to employers.

Students

RMR is open to graduate students graduating in the next year and recent graduates and seeking employment are encouraged to join!

Students will need to provide a current resume a week before RMR so it can be distribued to pontential employers for their reveiw and to set up interviews. (See Resume and Interview Tips)

Potential Employers

Interested in particpating from the employer side? Seeking talent to join your company next summer as a intern or in an entry level position please plan on join us next fall for the Rocky Mountain Rendezvous.

Student Resumes

Resume File Naming Convention
  • Required naming convention for resumes uploaded: 
    •  2025Resume_LastName_FirstName_MiddleInitial
    • Example: 2025Resume_Smith_John_J
  • 2025Resume is required in the file name
  • No prefixes or suffixes are to be used in the file name. These additional monikers can be used in in the resume itself but not the file name. 
  • Names should be listed in the order above and separatd by underscored spaces, not hypens
  • No spaces, underscores should be used in their place
Resume Guidelines
  • Use a font between 10 pt and 12 pt
  • Include your name, email, and phone number
  • Do not include a cover letter
  • Highlight Skills and abilities that benefit the company
  • Be concise and avoid lenghty resumes
    • Resumes should be one page, but no more than two
  • Keep text simple
  • Document outcomes/impacts of experience
  • Use active language
  • No personal pronouns and avoid general or flowery objective statement
  • Include only information that is relevant to attaining a job
  • Emphasize pertient education, recent training, and relevant work experience
  • Proofread your resume!

 


Interview Tips

  • Research companies before your inerview
  • Arrive on time for your interview
  • Minimize distracting mannerisms (adjusting clothing/hair, tapping fingers, etc.)
  • Clean and neat in appearance
  • Be aware of your posture and body language
  • Make eye contact with your interviewer
  • Speak clearly and slowly 
  • Think a moment before answering questions
  • Relax and be confident in your experience and abilities and what you can offer the company
  • Prepare/anticipate questions the interviewer might ask ahead of time
  • Answer questions with more than a simple "yes"or "no". Use the opportunity to explain your experience and skills and how you would apply them. 
  • Prepare your own questions about the company/and the position
