Finding gold: the arapahoe bar gold panning Park

Join us for this family-friendly gold panning field trip that will transport you to Colorado’s gold rush era of the 1800s. This two-hour field trip to the Arapahoe Bar Gold Panning Park in Golden, Colorado will be guided by Kevin A. Singel, author of “Finding Gold in Colorado”. 

The group will meet at Wheat Ridge Youngfield Entrance (3862 Youngfield Service Rd, Wheat Ridge, CO 80033) and walk a quarter mile along the paved greenbelt path to the gold panning park entrance. From the paved path to the gold bar, there will be rocky, uneven surfaces to walk over and sloped, sandy terrain to stand at while gold panning. Come prepared with sandals, water shoes or wading boots, and a keen eye for sparkling gold flakes! Once we arrive at the gold bar, our guide Kevin will give an overview of its fascinating history, followed by a safety briefing and a lesson on how to pan gold. After the lesson, you can pan for gold along the creek but may catch gold fever in the process!

Cost

Refunds are available until September 8, 2026. If you are unable to attend, your registration for all RMAG events are transferable. RMAG members may transfer their registration to another RMAG member, and non-members can transfer their registrations to whomever they wish. Should an RMAG member wish to transfer their registration to a non-member, the non-member would need to pay the balance between the member and non-member price.

Waivers

All registrants must fill out the Medical Emergency, Waiver and Release of Liability form. Those who fail to complete the form will not be permitted to attend the field trip.
