Geoscience Outreach January Meeting
Geoscience Outreach Committee
Tuesday January 6, 2026
3pm
With a mission to provide fun and engaging educational opportunities in geosciences for K-12 students and adults, the Geoscience Outreach committee tailors educational content to audiences of all interests and ages. Using an extensive collection of mineral and rock samples and a variety of geoscience presentations, they bring the world of geology to life. Throughout the year, the committee also participates in numerous outreach events across the Denver metro area.
In 2025 alone, the Geoscience Outreach Committee has participated in five community events, engaging thousands of children in conversations about geosciences through games and experiments. They’ve visited over half a dozen classrooms—from kindergarten to high school—enhancing Earth science instruction with hands-on mineral and rock kits. Committee members have also given presentations to adult interest groups eager to learn more about a variety of geoscience topics.
As a volunteer, you’ll help identify opportunities to bring RMAG into the community—whether it’s a local school, festival, or another event. You’ll assist in planning these activities, from selecting educational materials to coordinating logistics with event hosts. Plus, we love having volunteers join us for a few hours at community festivals to share their passion for geology!
Joining the Geoscience Outreach Committee is a fantastic way to share your love of geology and inspire the next generation of geologists. No prior experience is necessary—just a willingness to engage with children and the community. The committee meets once a month via Zoom (except in July and December).
We look forward to your participation.
