About this course...
This introductory course provides an overview of how StarSteer supports the complete lifecycle of a well, from initial planning through geosteering and into completions. Participants will be introduced to the core tools and workflows used throughout each phase of development, gaining a foundational understanding of how data flows through the software and how StarSteer supports day-to-day operations.
Who should attend?
This course is designed for new StarSteer users who want to build a strong foundation in the software. It is ideal for geologists, geosteering specialists, well planners, drilling and operations personnel, reservoir and completion engineers, and anyone interested in understanding how StarSteer is used throughout the well life cycle. No prior experience with StarSteer is required.
Course Goals
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Navigate the StarSteer interface with confidence.
- Understand how StarSteer supports each stage of the well life cycle.
- Recognize the primary workflows used during planning, drilling, and completions.
- Perform basic data import and export tasks.
- Understand how geologic and operational data are managed within StarSteer.

Course Requirements
Participants are required to bring a mouse and laptop capable of running StarSteer. Prior to the course, attendees should download and install the latest version of StarSteer. Temporary StarSteer license access codes will be provided for the duration of the short course, allowing participants to complete all hands-on exercises.
Course Instructor
Kory Wiley is a Technical Sales Analyst at Rogii, specializing in geosteering and geoscience workflow optimization. Drawing on his hands-on experience in active mud logging and geosteering operations, Kory translates user feedback into innovative software solutions while delivering practical training and webinars across the industry. He holds a Master’s Degree in Geology from West Virginia University and Bachelor's Degree in Geology from Northern Arizona University.
