Geology on the Streets: Denver's Iconic Building Stones

Experience Denver’s geologic and architectural heritage with RMAG on a guided walking tour of the city’s most iconic stone buildings. Many of these structures—now more than 100 years old—were crafted from Colorado’s own geologic treasures. As we explore, you’ll learn about Denver’s early days and the quarries that supplied the distinctive rocks, including the Pike’s Peak Granite, Yule Marble, Lyons Sandstone, and Castle Rock Rhyolite. This two-mile loop also takes us down historic 17th Street, long known as the “Wall Street of the West.” Perfect for both geologists and curious newcomers, this tour is a great outing for families and friends.

Refunds are available until June 29, 2026. If you are unable to attend, your registration for all RMAG events are transferable. RMAG members may transfer their registration to another RMAG member, and non-members can transfer their registrations to whomever they wish. Should an RMAG member wish to transfer their registration to a non-member, the non-member would need to pay the balance between the member and non-member price.

Waivers

All registrants must fill out the Medical Emergency, Waiver and Release of Liability form. Those who fail to complete the form will not be permitted to attend the field trip.
