The following is a summary of RMAG Professional Award categories.
 
Honorary Member
  • For outstanding service to geology and/or the RMAG
  • No more than two per year
  • Generally for members but open to outstanding nonmembers
 
Outstanding Explorer
  • Significant energy or mineral discovery (ies)
  • Having accomplished outstanding earth science exploration within recent years or throughout career
  • Only one award per year. Award may be shared
  • Member of RMAG
 
Outstanding Scientist
  • Having conducted or reported outstanding earth science studies either recently or throughout career
  • Only one award per year
  • Member of RMAG
 
Distinguished Service to RMAG
  • No more than three per year
  • Members of RMAG only
 
Distinguished Public Service to Earth Science
  • No more than three per year
  • Members or nonmembers
 
Journalism
  • Achievement which of notable benefit to the profession or public understanding of geology, exploration or resources
  • Generally nonmember professionals, but members are not to be excluded
